"Sort my Desktop into folders." What actually happened

One sentence typed into a chat, on a real Windows desktop, filmed in one take. Here is the instruction, the result, and the parts worth arguing about.

The instruction

Sort the files on my Desktop into folders by type, then tell me what moved.

No folder names, no rules, no list of extensions. That is the whole point of asking an agent rather than writing a script: the decisions are its problem.

What it did

It looked at the Desktop first, then moved 15 files into 4 new folders:

The two things that make it worth watching

It left things alone on purpose. desktop.ini stayed where it was, because moving it breaks the folder's view settings, and so did the Eleos.lnk shortcut. A script written by extension would have swept both up.

It read what it moved. Unprompted, it added a note: the lease agreement needed a signature by 15 September, that day, after which the terms lapse — and the invoice showed 1,240.00 unpaid, due 12 September. Nobody asked it to open anything. That is the difference between sorting files and understanding them.

What to be careful about

• It moves real files. Ask it to list the plan first if you want a dry run; say "do not move anything yet, tell me what you would do".
• Ambiguous files go where the model thinks best. A .txt next to a PDF of the same name went to Documents; a screenshot went to Images. If you have a convention, say it in the sentence.
• It is not undoable by itself. Eleos shows every change and can undo a chat's file changes, but a folder you have since rearranged by hand is your own problem.
• Big folders take real time. This was 15 files. A Downloads folder with two thousand is a longer job, and worth doing in batches.

Questions

Does it rename files as well as move them?

If you ask. "Rename these by date and file them by month" is one sentence too; the model proposes names from what is inside each file.

Can I see what it did?

Every action shows in the chat as it happens, and the summary lists what moved. Eleos also has an undo for the file changes a chat made.

Does it work on any folder, not just the Desktop?

Yes. Point the chat at a folder and ask.

Is this safe on work documents?

Judge it the way you would judge any tool that writes to disk. If files must not leave the machine, use a local model, which sends nothing anywhere.
